Admission requirements for studies

 

Admission

Minimum age of 18 years and a secondary school leaving qualification. Exceptions possible by arrangement.

Application

For the application to the study programme we ask you to submit the following in a first step:

  • CV (with photo)
  • Letter of motivation

              - Description of specific artistic interest

              - Why do you apply to study at the Visual Art School?

              - Questions about our programme (please study our website)

              - Some photographs of your own work

 

Admission interview

Applicants will have the opportunity to present their portfolios and discuss further questions and suitability during an interview with the main lecturers Charles Blockey and Fredy Buchwalder. If appropriate, the interview can also be conducted virtually.

 

Work experience

Full-time study: Attending classes for at least one day in one of our courses at the Visual Art School Basel.

Part-time study: Attendance of weekend course.

 

Graduation - Diploma thesis

An independent project work within the fourth year of study on an individually chosen topic is part of the successful completion of studies with a final diploma. The Visual Art School is a private art school. Its diploma is recognised as a teaching qualification at the Rudolf Steiner schools and as foundation course for further professional training in disciplines such as art therapy. Many of our graduates make a living as freelance artists. Further information about the diploma thesis.

 

School fees

Full-time studies: CHF 6'500 / academic year


The three intensive weeks are open to guest participants at the cost of CHF 1'500.
Applications for a scholarship at the Visual Art School Basel are possible.

Part-time study: CHF 4'500 / academic year
The part-time study includes 10 weekends incl. a summer workshop
